Treatments We Offer

Laparoscopic surgery is the newest innovation in general surgery.  At Fairview Northland Medical Center,                                                                               the surgeon uses a tiny camera to operate inside the body through a small, lighted telescope connected                                                                                  to a video monitor.  Because incisions are very small, laparoscopic surgery usually means it can be done                                                                              on an outpatient basis and recovery time will be faster.  Many procedures can now be done in this manner including:

• Removal of the gallbladder
• Removal of the appendix
• Removal of the colon
• Liver and tumor biopsies
• Diagnostic evaluations
• Groin hernia repairs
• Hiatal hernia repair
• Reflux (heartburn) procedure
