Fairview Milaca Clinic was one of 13 Fairview clinics recognized for their outcomes in vascular care at the Bridges to Excellence award ceremony on January 15. Those clinics that brought 50 percent or more of their coronary artery disease patients into perfect control for blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, smoking cessation and taking aspirin regularly, were named. Fairview and one other organization in the state tied for having the greatest number of clinics achieving recognized outcomes.
Bridges to Excellence (BTE) is a not-for-profit organization that encourages improvement in patient care. In 2007, Fairview clinics were recognized by BTE for outstanding diabetes care.
According to Barry Bershow, M.D., medical director of quality and informatics, Fairview clinics, "National BTE Officer and Director Francois de Brantes said Minnesota's BTE standards are the most stringent in the United States. In fact, the national BTE organization plans to ramp up requirements in other states to meet those of Minnesota."
